LSI Niwot FwTermLog Reports BBU08 has Reached EOL (Doc ID 2108858.1)

Symptoms

The Battery Reached EOL message in Niwot FwTermLog can cause an engineer to unnecessarily replace the BBU.

Here is the “Battery Reached EOL” message found in LSI FwTermLog file.

02/15/16 2:55:03: EVT#31965-02/15/16 2:55:03: 253=Battery requires reconditioning; please initiate a LEARN cycle
02/15/16 2:55:03: Battery Yearly Deep Discharge Relearn Pending. Please Initiate a manual Relearn

The BBU was verified to be in working and operating condition. Refer to Doc ID 1542070.1 for related BBU operating guideline, checking BBU health and BBU Related MegaCLI Commands.

21017 -- 15 Feb 2015 2:54:21 - - Battery Present
21018 -- 15 Feb 2015 2:54:21 - - Battery has been replaced

In the LSI Megacli FwTermLog and GetEvents output, we can determine that the BBU was replaced on 15 Feb 2015 which is just a year ago. The expected BBU service life is supposed to be 2-3 years.

The LSI HBA firmware is at 12.12.0-0178
