Symptoms

 zpool add or create which includes a disk c?t?d?sX
vdev verification failed: use -f to override the following errors:
/dev/dsk/c?t?d?sX overlaps with /dev/dsk/c?t?d?s2
Unable to build pool from specified devices: device already in use

 

and the disk c?t?d? contains an EFI label but also includes a slice 2 which overlaps other slices
