How to Filter/Track Packets between VirtualBox Guest Images on a Windows Host (Doc ID 2146889.1)

Last updated on JUNE 14, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle VM VirtualBox - Version 4.3 to 6.1 [Release 4.0 to 6.0]
Microsoft Windows x64 (64-bit)
Microsoft Windows (32-bit)

Goal

On a Oracle VirtualBox host system, multiple virtual machines (Guest VMs) may be installed using the bridged network interface.  When the Guest VMs send/receive network packets, Administrators may track this communication by filtering using network rules on the Windows host machine (using an NDIS filter) on the physical adapter.

Alternatively, when Guest VMs send/receive network packets to other virtual guests, the corresponding packets are not filterable via NDIS driver on the host system.

Is it possible to track network packets directed between only guest VMs ?
