Configuring Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) to Interface with Peers Behind a Network Address Translation (NAT) Device (Doc ID 2148765.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 21, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 6.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The goal of this document is to identify the primary settings in DSR that will aid in successfully establishing Diameter connections to a peer residing behind a Network Address Translation (NAT) firewall or other NAT device.

An ancillary goal of this document is to provide WARNING that interfacing to any peer through a remote NAT device is highly dependent on the capability of the NAT device itself, as well as the connection strategy in use. Oracle DSR does not directly support connections from a NAT'd environment, although depending on configuration and content of received packets/messages such connections may be successful.
