Ftp Error : (ftp: Tcgetattr: Inappropriate Ioctl For Device) (Doc ID 2157447.1)

FTP : After entering username, its giving error without prompting for password.
Error as below :
ftp: tcgetattr: Inappropriate ioctl for device

SCP : While transferring file via SCP the connection is not established.
Error as below :
lost connection

# ftp -d localhost
Connected to localhost.
220  FTP server (Version wu-2.6.2+Sun) ready.
Name (localhost:root):  testuser
---> USER testuser
331 Password required for testuser
ftp: tcgetattr: Inappropriate ioctl for device
530 Login incorrect.
Login failed.
---> SYST
530 Please login with USER and PASS.
ftp> bye
---> QUIT
221 Goodbye.
