Solaris Operating System - Version 10 1/13 U11 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

ACSLS 8.3 Solaris 10 x86 server does not present any tapes through one FC port (qlt0 interface), causing Oracle Backup Server (OBS) media server to not see some tape drives.

From the ACSLS server:

a) /var/adm/messages:

From the Brocade switch, the ports were online for the ACSLS server and OBS client, and zoning was configured correctly.

==> Port 45 is flipping offline and online again, port goes online, 4 secs later it goes offline and online, again 4 secs later it goes offline and online, etc...
==> This is the port towards the ACSLS server HBA, which is in target mode.

qlt Async event 8017 is "SCN Port Offline".
qlt Async event 8030 is "SCN Port Online".

From the OBS media server:

We are able to see the tape drives on the media server, just not the logical library FC connection:

# sg_map -i -x

/dev/sg1 0 2 1 0 0 /dev/sdb LSI MR9261-8i 2.13

/dev/sg9 1 0 3 0 1 /dev/nst7 STK T10000C 3.62
/dev/sg10 9 0 0 0 0 /dev/sdc ORACLE SSM PMAP

The client (Red hat server) was unable to see the logical library.
An entry similar to the following one was missing:

/dev/sg12 9 0 4 0 8 SUN ACSLS-SCSI 1000
