Last updated on AUGUST 02, 2021

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 11.1 and later
SPARC T4-1B
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

This is a Solaris 11.1 T5-4 sparc control domain server with Oracle Qlogic 16GB FC HBAs connected to the SAN to access
EMC XtremIO arrays, and emc powerpath installed as multipathing software, Solaris Cluster installed.

There are hundreds/thousands of emcp dead path Errors every second,
and also some other deferred/not deferred Info messages, like here:

It is important to notice that server01 is a global zone and it is clustered (it is a Solaris Cluster node)
and it has configured several non-global zones (NGZ) part of a zone cluster (ZC),
but powerpath software is installed in the global zone.

Oracle Database and ASM are installed on the NGZ, and have configured did devices to access to the EMC LUNs.

Changes

Problem started since emc powerpath was installed, previously they we using Solaris MPxIO.
