Servers running Solaris 10 with old ZFS rpools that use volblocksize=8K for rpool/dump and rpool/swap may experience longer boot times (Doc ID 2202299.1)

Last updated on NOVEMBER 09, 2016

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 10 8/11 U10 to 10 1/13 U11 [Release 10.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Should the issue described in this document occur, the time needed for the system to boot could be several minutes or hours with no output seen on the console.  The time taken for the system to boot will depend on the size of the primary swap device, usually rpool/swap.  Generating a system crash dump is often the best option to understand boot hangs.

Changes

Applying Kernel Patch 147440-19 (SPARC)/147441-19 (x86/x64) or newer.
