Brocade FOS Firmware Upgrade Hung: firmwareshow Command Still Shows "WARNING: Firmwaredownload is in progress." (Doc ID 2203179.1)

Symptoms

Upgrading Brocade 300 FC Switch firmware in steps by applying 4 patches one at a time.

First 2 upgrades took about 20 mins and were fine, then on the third upgrade , the upgrade process seems to be hung as firmwareshow command still shows "WARNING: Firmwaredownload is in progress." even after it's been running for hours.

The upgrade is going from version v7.2.1d to v7.3.1c. , IO through the switch is running fine, just the upgrade process firmwaredonwload seems to be hung
