Oracle ZFS Storage Appliance : BUI and CLI throws error "illegal control character" (Doc ID 2231905.1)

Symptoms

BUI and CLI may fail with error "illegal control character" while navigating to service, logs, updates, hardware etc.

CLI error :

zfssa:> maintenance system updates firmwareUpdatesDetails
  error: An unanticipated system error occurred: call for param #1 to system.push
  failed: illegal control character 4 at position 16

  This may be due to transient failure, or a software defect. If this problem
  persists, contact your service provider.
