ACSLS: Drives Configured for Media Validation not Cleaned by ACSLS (Doc ID 2261744.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 16, 2018

Applies to:

Sun StorageTek Auto Cartridge Sys Lib SW (ACSLS) - Version 8.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Drives have physically their "Needs Clean" led ON, but there are no corresponding "Clean Drive" messages in the acsss_event.log

As a result, those drives are never cleaned (all other drives in the library get cleaned as expected)

Customer even tried to mount a cleaning cartridge into those drives, but it fails with the corresponding messages:

 2017-04-26 13:09:36 ACSLH[0]:
 2378 N Co_ProcessResponses.C 1 1394
 ACS: 0; LC/LMU error: Co_4400:st_parse_error:
Error: 0202 - Configuration error: Drive does not exist
 Request: Mount
Volser: CLN048, media domain: C, media type: L
 Source: Cell 0,3,20,9,1
 Destination: Drive 0,0,1,9

Those 2 drives have been configured (at the level of the SL8500 library) to be part of the Media Validation drive pool.
