Information in this document applies to any platform.
Goal
The purpose of this document is to give a general overview of sg3_utils and provide some examples to collect SCSI Vital Product Data (VDP) pages with sg_inq and sg_vpd commands.
For more information, see the man pages for each tool / command, ie:
- sg_inq - sends a SCSI INQUIRY or ATA IDENTIFY (PACKET) DEVICE command and outputs the response.
- sg_vpd - fetches Vital Product Data (VPD) pages using a SCSI INQUIRY command.
