When a file is shared, the nfs server service goes into maintenance mode.

$ cat svcs-xv.out
svc:/network/nfs/server:default (NFS server)
 State: maintenance since June 16, 2017 07:22:45 PM IST
Reason: Start method exited with $SMF_EXIT_ERR_FATAL.
  See: http://support.oracle.com/msg/SMF-8000-KS
  See: man -M /usr/share/man -s 1M nfsd
  See: /var/svc/log/network-nfs-server:default.log
Impact: This service is not running.

The log file shows:


[ Jun 16 19:01:33 Enabled. ]
[ Jun 16 19:01:33 Executing start method ("/lib/svc/method/nfs-server start"). ]
error creating stable storage directory: No such file or directory: /var/nfs/v4_state. Exiting
/lib/svc/method/nfs-server: nfsd failed with 1
[ Jun 16 19:01:33 Method "start" exited with status 95. ]
