Swat Service Enters Maintenance After Patching Upgrades Samba To Version 4.4.5 And Later (Doc ID 2284066.1)

Symptoms

Can no longer connect to Samba administration tool SWAT:

http://10.x.x.x:901/

Browser can’t establish a connection to the server at 10.x.x.x :901.

The /usr/sbin/swat executable no longer exists:

# ls -l /usr/sbin/swat
/usr/sbin/swat: No such file or directory

The swat Service goes into maintenance:

Attempting to connect to SWAT results in the swat Service entering maintenance:

 

# svcs swat
STATE STIME FMRI
maintenance 15:17:51 svc:/network/swat:default

 

If cleared it enters maintenance when a http connection to port 901 is attempted.

The /var/adm/messages file contains an error from inetd for swat

Jun 26 15:17:51 host inetd[459]: [ID 702911 daemon.error] Can't stat the inetd_start method of instance svc:/network/swat:default: No such file or directory

 

 

Changes

Installed Solaris Samba Patch 119757-38 (SPARC) 119758-38 (X86) or later on Solaris 10, or SRU 14 or later on Solaris 11.3.

This upgrades the Solaris Samba version from 3.6.25 to version 4.4.5 or greater.
