How to completely remove SGD when SGD was partially removed by running "tarantella uninstall" command (Doc ID 2321941.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 11, 2025

Applies to:

Oracle Secure Global Desktop - Version 4.63 to 5.4 [Release 4.0 to 5.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The Secure Global Desktop (SGD) Installation Guide clearly states that SGD should be removed by using the "tarantella uninstall --purge" command as per:

https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E65412_01/E65659/html/remove-sgd.html

If the administrator runs "tarantella uninstall" by mistake. as described in the Administration Guide, when --purge option is omitted, configuration information is left intact as per:

https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E65412_01/E65658/html/tta-uninstall.html

but binaries, libraries etc are removed.  In such cases, administrators will find that there are still files left under SGD installation path (/opt/tarantella by default) but  the "tarantella" command itself is not available as SGD packages have been removed by "tarantella uninstall" command.

This document describes how to completely remove SGD when SGD is only removed partially.

NOTE: As ttaserv, ttasys users and ttaserv group are manually created before the SGD installation, the SGD uninstall process will not remove these accounts and group.
