Control Domains do not Handle Storage Multipath Failover Correctly
(Doc ID 2337052.1)
Last updated on OCTOBER 05, 2022
Applies to:
Solaris Operating System - Version 11.3 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
The customer has a large configuration (on this particular case each storage target can have more than 1800 LUN) , with several targets configured on IBM SVC storage ports, shared by several hosts. Control domains are set up to support storage multipathing so that a reboot of one SVC will not cause our SAN storage to become unavailable.
During an upgrade activity on an IBM SVC that required a reboot has caused LDoms running on several different Control Domains experienced issues with accessing their external storage. From first glance, it appears that the Control Domains did not rescan/rediscover the external disks after the path failover.
