Last updated on OCTOBER 13, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle MiniCluster Specific Software - Version 1.x and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Issues with passwords are one of the more common sources for customer support calls.  Due to the high security standards in MiniCluster password aging is enabled and frequently expire. Also if mcinstall or oracle user passwords are changed manually outside of the MiniCluster Configuration Utility (MCMU) it will cause failures in the MCMU software stack. Passwords need to be synchronized between the MCMU database and the unix accounts.  Procedures for this are provided within MCMU, but not always correctly used.  This document gives detailed procedures for the most common scenarios.

This document is intended for MiniCluster administrators.  It covers readily available procedures to change, reset or recover passwords in MiniCluster.  It does not replace the official documentation or provide instructions to circumvent the designed user management of MiniCluster.
