Purpose
Issues with passwords are one of the more common sources for customer support calls.
Customers often forget password, or forget to change them on time, or are not set up to be notified of pending expiration.
Due to the high security standards in MiniCluster password aging is enabled and passwords expire.
If mcinstall or oracle user passwords are changed manually (e.g. via 'passwd(1M) command line) outside of the MiniCluster Configuration Utility (MCMU) it will cause failures in the MCMU software stack.
Passwords need to be synchronized between the MCMU database and these MiniCluster critical user accounts.
Procedures for this are provided within MCMU command line and BUI; however, are not always correctly used.
This document gives detailed procedures to recover from the most common scenarios.
Scope
This document is intended for MiniCluster administrators. It covers readily available procedures to change, reset or recover passwords in MiniCluster. It does not replace the official documentation or provide instructions to circumvent the designed user management of MiniCluster.
