Why are ipv6 AAAA lookups being done on ip of the NIS server that it's bound to? (Doc ID 2340771.1)

Solaris 11 NIS client experienced following issue:
The client doing an ipv6 AAAA lookup on the ip of the nis server that the client is currently bound to. It doesn't get an answer after 5 seconds, goes through the dns search domains, and then re-issues the unanswered query, waits for another 5 seconds, and then proceeds.

- ypcat works fine if  the client points dns to a Solaris dns server which answers the IPv6 AAAA lookups immediately with a SERVFAIL, rather than waiting 10 seconds.

- Questions

- Why are  ipv6 AAAA lookups being done on ip of the nis server that it's bound to?

- Why's it doing it even though I have deleted ipv6 interfaces?
