Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide guidance in the event of seeing a System Alert to Restore a Drive Group.

Scope

Multiple drive failures within a Drive Group often negate the ability of RAID to recover data and will generate a System Alert.  How that Drive Group is impacted depends on the number and location of those failures.  Once the failed drives have been replaced the System will generate a System Alert to restore the Drive Group.  That System Alert has two varieties:

The latter implies that it may be possible for the Drive Group to be recovered without data loss.  Though data integrity may be an issue.

NOTE: Do NOT attempt to restore a Drive Group if the FS1-2 software version is greater than R6.2.15 but less than R6.2.17-0565.08.  Doing so may result in repeated Controller warm starts leading to one or both Controllers experiencing software failures.  If this condition is encountered, please contact Oracle Support for assistance.
