This Document presents methods for cleaning the ODA system in preparation for the patching of 12.2.1.4 by utilizing previously supplied documents and steps relevant prior to patching an ODA to best prepare the system.

There must be adequate space in both the ODA Base and the Dom0 of the ODA for the patch to proceed properly. Most failures we see in the patching process are a failure of this required space which will halt the patch and require steps to process.

Dom0 Space

/boot - The boot must have at least 55MB of space in order to properly process the patch and rebuild of the initramfs
/ - The root filesystem should contain at least 15GB of space for the updates

ODA BASE Space

/boot - The boot must have at least 55MB of space in order to properly process the patch and rebuild of the initramfs
/ - The root filesystem should contain at least 15GB of space for the updates (if customer has separate /opt filesystem it must have 15 GB)
/u01 - the /u01 filesystem should have 20GB of free space. (If Oracle database homes are in other filesystems such as /u02 they should have at least 10GB of space to patch.)

Other items necessary for patching:

Users must stop all repos and VMs present on the system (except ODA BASE) prior to beginning the patch
Any one off patches that have been applied out of band need to be checked against the ODA patch for the GI/database to insure there are no conflicts.
