Symptoms
The archiver is continuously scanning the samfs filesystems using the sam-arfind process and causing high SAN LUN usage. This customer has multiple file systems that are very large and are using a lot of the HSM server's resources. Some of the filesystems were so large (>80 million files) and possibly very fragmented, that they were taking more than 24 hours to complete, so with the scan being done every night by default, those filesystems were continuously scanning and never completing.
The samcmd a' output shows multiple filesystems being scanned, all starting right after midnight
