Reference: Best Practice Procedure for Applying SGD Patches within a Multiple Server Array (Doc ID 2489131.1)

Last updated on JULY 11, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Secure Global Desktop - Version 5.2 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Purpose

All Secure Global Desktop (SGD) Servers within a multiple-server array must run the same version of SGD Software.  This support requirement introduces unique challenges for SGD Administrators that wish to upgrade, or update the software within an array.

This document provides a high-level overview of the recommended procedure for patching the SGD product within a multiple-server array during a planned maintenance window.

Note: Similar procedures are necessary when upgrading Secure Global Desktop software between major releases.  That requirement is outlined in detail within the published SGD Installation Guide.

Scope

This guidance is intended specifically for SGD Administrators responsible for updating SGD deployments.  It has been created to augment existing patch-specific documentation, providing an overview for the procedure of applying multiple updates, to multiple servers, within a scheduled maintenance window.

Note: The framework outlined below is generalized.  SGD Administrators should always take care to check each patch's associated documentation for important details regarding install prerequisites, and uncommon exceptions to the install procedure.
