Unable to apply ODA 18.3.0.0.0 storage patch

We recently applied the 18.3.0.0.0 server update to our X6-4 HA database appliance, with no apparent errors, which converted it to from the OAK (oakcli) to DCS (odacli) stack. We're now attempting to apply the storage patch, which immediately fails with the error below.

[2019-01-23 17:42:02] root@<HOSTNAME>0 ~
# odacli update-storage -v 18.3.0.0.0 --rolling
DCS-10001:Internal error encountered: java.lang.NullPointerException.

We've also tried running the command without the "--rolling" option, which unfortunately made no discernible difference. The only oddity I can think of concerning this system is that it has a storage expansion shelf installed, which I *believe* is an X7-2 model.

We have not been able to determine what is triggering this failure, and need your assistance to determine the solution and/or applicable workarounds. I'll upload the output of the "odacli describe-component" command, so that you can see all of the version information.
