IBM LTO8 Tape Drives Taking 13 Minutes to Mount Tapes (Doc ID 2521643.1)

Symptoms

When attempting to mount or dismount a tape the following error occurs.

ERROR
-----------------------
"CRITICAL: A mount/dismount operation has failed due to a Library failure : StatusCode[65:LIBRARY_FAILURE]" 

 

This was causing the tape mounts to take up to 13 + minutes. 


BUSINESS IMPACT
-----------------------
The issue has the following business impact:
Due to this issue, users cannot use the tapes and cannot archive/retrieve media.

Changes

 The customer added two new IBM LTO8 tape drives w/the new LKM (encryption cards) and IBM LTO7 tape media.
