MacOS Users Unable to Connect to Secure Global Desktop after Upgrade to 10.15 (Catalina) (Doc ID 2606349.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 11, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Secure Global Desktop - Version 5.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Existing users connecting from client devices that have been recently upgraded to MacOS 10.15 (Catalina) may be unable to connect to Secure Global Desktop.  In this scenario, users may receive the following message shortly after authenticating to Secure Global Desktop:

"Oracle Secure Global Desktop Client" needs to be updated.
The developer of this app needs to update it to work with this version of MacOS.
Contact the developer for more information.

However, subsequent attempts by the user to install the 64bit client (as prescribed within (Doc ID 2581460.1)) do not appear to resolve this behavior.

Changes

Apple removed support for 32bit applications within the MacOS X 10.15 (Catalina) release.   While it is possible to update the operating system on these client devices while preserving preinstalled 32bit software, these applications will not run as expected after the upgrade.
