Diameter Signaling Router (DSR): Connection Failure on DA-MPs Due to EXGSTACK_Process Abterm in stackTaskName=DeirReqTask (Doc ID 2607826.1)

Last updated on MAY 03, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Communications Diameter Signaling Router (DSR) - Version DSR 8.3.0 to DSR 8.4.0 [Release DSR 8.0]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

On a regular approx. 31 day interval basis, the dsr process (EXGSTACK_Process) may experience an abnormal termination (abterm) causing all connections on the DA-MP to fail, then recover after the process respawns.  In the Alarms and Events History log, Event 31003 can be seen indicating "Thread watchdog expired for thread ID #### (taskName=StackTask, stackTaskName=DeirReqTask)"  An example:

SERVER MP
EVENT_NUMBER 31003
SEVERITY MINOR
PROCESS dsr
TYPE SW
INSTANCE EXGSTACK_Process
NAME Thread Watchdog Failure
DESCRIPTION Thread watchdog timed out
ERR_INFO GN_EXPIRED/WRN Thread watchdog expired for thread ID 58769 (taskName=StackTask, stackTaskName=DeirReqTask) [SigCtl.cxx:196] ^^ [58574:SigCtl.cxx:199]

The event often appears in clusters of DA-MP servers at approximately the same time, and through the episode most if not all DA-MPs will have the restart occur.  The interval then seems to reset until the next ~31 day interval transpires.

Changes

Upgrade to DSR 8.3 or DSR 8.4.
