Solaris Multipathing (MPxIO/scsi_vhci) Total Path Count Discrepancy In mpathadm Output For iSCSI Boot Device
(Doc ID 2618394.1)
Last updated on OCTOBER 05, 2022
Applies to:
Solaris Operating System - Version 11.1 and laterSolaris x64/x86 Operating System - Version 11.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
Solaris creates two or more temporary iSCSI sessions during iSCSI boot. These sessions are destroyed later in the boot process, but their stale MultiPathing Application Programming Interface (MPAPI) data structures are preserved in the Solaris kernel. Output from mpathadm shows the Path State as "unknown" for the paths associated with the destroyed sessions and counts these paths against the Total Path Count.
Changes
Boot Solaris 11 from a logical unit over iSCSI.
