Log Files Defined In /etc/logrotate.d/syslog Failed To Be Rotated Due To "No Such File Or Directory" (Doc ID 2628303.1)

Symptoms

As you see below,  messages files were not rotated since April 25 2019.
All other log files under /etc/logrotate.d/syslog appear  the same symptom as messages file does.

[/var/log]# ll | grep messages
-rw-r----- 1 root root 228715999 Dec 13 15:17 messages
-rw------- 1 root root 1491852 Apr 25 2019 messages.1.gz
-rw------- 1 root root 2534978 Apr 24 2019 messages.2.gz
-rw------- 1 root root 2568051 Apr 23 2019 messages.3.gz
-rw------- 1 root root 2600515 Apr 22 2019 messages.4.gz
-rw------- 1 root root 2613017 Apr 21 2019 messages.5.gz
-rw------- 1 root root 2588448 Apr 20 2019 messages.6.gz
