iSCSI LUNs Disappear After Removing the iscsi_v1.dbc and iscsi_v1.dbp Configuration Files (Doc ID 2632388.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 05, 2022

Applies to:

Solaris Operating System - Version 11.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Sometimes it is necessary to delete and recreate the /etc/iscsi/iscsi_v1.dbc and /etc/iscsi/iscsi_v1.dbp configuration files. Such action may cause the iSCSI LUNs to disappear from the format command output, after a reboot.  Following such action, the 'iscsiadm list target -S' command will show the following output:

Target: iqn.1986-03.com.sun:02:6992052b-995d-ed93-bac9-b007f78d3999
        Alias: iscsi-target-0
        TPGT: 2
        ISID: 4000002a0000
        Connections: 1

Target: iqn.1986-03.com.sun:02:6310ff87-12c2-6313-c6b8-c7d39302986f
        Alias: t4-2-brm06-g-iSCSI
        TPGT: 2
        ISID: 4000002a0000
        Connections: 1

Note the taget IQN shows up, but the LUNs mapped to such target INQ do not show up. Also, note the
/var/adm/messages show the target IQNs transition from offline to online, as follows:

If you obtain the snoop data during a 'icsiadm modify discovery -[s|t|i]' disable/enable',
or during a reboot cycle, you will notice a Check Conditions returned for some basic commands,
