Symptoms

Oracle ZFS Storage (ZFSSA) utilities that move data from one system to another may show a different size on the target system.

Utilities that move data are:

For example with Oracle Cloud Backup:

  1. Share1 on <ZFSSA_SOURCE> in Boston shows a size of 4.46G in the ZFSSA Browser User Interface (BUI).
  2. A snapshot is taken and backed up to Cloud Storage.
  3. The backup is restored to <ZFSSA_TARGET> in Denver.
  4. The size of the share on <ZFSSA_TARGET> is 4.58G.

If the du command is run on files within the share, sizes mat be slightly different than on the original system.
