Last updated on JUNE 17, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) and StorageTek QFS Software - Version 5.4 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Customer noticed a performance issues with the Oracle HSM QFS linux client not being able to read any faster than around 250MB/sec.

The equivalent Solaris QFS clients are reported as being able to read at many times faster than this.

It was suggested to try the following:

  1) try /bin/time dd if=tarfile of=/dev/null bs=1024k.   Run 4-5 of these in parallel (from different tar files) and see what aggregate I/O you get.
  2) try /bin/time dd if=/dev/qfs_lun... of=/dev/null bs=1024k.  Run again 4-5 of these in parallel, and see what aggregate read speed you can see.
