Goal

To stop Media Validation from occurring on media once the policy to do so has been removed.

Media validation 'MV' is continuing to occur on T10000B tapes even after the policy to do this was removed and STA restarted.

The site is retiring T10000B tapes and migrated all the data off of them, but the tapes are still in the library. Validating them is now useless, so the T10000B policies were removed from all Media Validation "Media Format" policies. Customer was using the "Media Format" mechanism for defining the media. This 'type' of format allows you to select all of a 'type' of media. Still, STA continues to validate T10000B although the policy to do so no longer exists. Restarting STA seemed to have fixed this behavior temporarily, for a few days, and then it started again.

Changes

The site removed the Media Validation policy for the T10000B tapes to prevent them from being validated. They left the tapes in the library until they can be properly disposed. The site then deleted the policy from the "Media Format" policy type but still sees the T10000B tapes getting validated.
