ACSLS Catalog Is Out Of Sync With The Library.
(Doc ID 2667423.1)
Last updated on JULY 11, 2022
Applies to:
Sun StorageTek Auto Cartridge Sys Lib SW (ACSLS) - Version 8.4 to 8.5 [Release 8.0]Information in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
Two tapes are reported as absent during a Mount request. The tapes are physically in the library, as confirmed from the SLConsole.
A media validation ( MV ) job is configured to use these tapes in StorageTek Analytics ( STA ).
In the acsss_event.log, a mount request of tape VOL001 is showing as failed because the source cell is empty. The ACSLS Cartridge Recovery ( ACSCR ) process gets triggered and the cell status is corrected to "full" and tape VOL001 status is corrected to "home":

Re-trying the mount of volume VOL001 on drive 0, 0, 1, 7 using the volume's new home cell.
The problem happens only after media validation is run from STA and shows a "misbuckle error" during the mount operation:
It looks like STA has the correct source and destination cell addresses and should have been able to return the tape back to its original home cell.

It looks like the drive error caused the library to not return the tape back to its home cell.
