HSM: Can Not Copy Files From LDOM Shared SAM-QFS Client Running Solaris 11.4 SRU 21 or Greater (Doc ID 2795736.1)

Last updated on APRIL 04, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) and StorageTek QFS Software - Version 6.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When copying files from another fs, for example, xfs (/var/tmp), into SAM-QFS on an LDOM SAM-QFS client, it works but with the following 'WARNING' entries seen in /var/adm/messages:

This 'Invalid argument' failure is only seen with a shared QFS client built as an LDOM using virtual storage.

So we see the 'invalid argument' error when reading and the 'delaying allocation' warning when writing.

We were able to reproduce all this same behavior in house, when using an LDOM as a QFS client, running Solaris 11.4 SRU 21 or greater and after we added the 'set maxphys=0x800000' in /etc/system, that the customer also had set in their configuration.  We saw in samtrace captured the 'invalid argument' error when reading past 1MB and the 'delaying allocation' warning when writing.

Changes

Customer issue was seen after upgrading from Solaris 11.4 SRU 17 to SRU26
