HSM: Tape Cartridge Has Reached The End Of Its Calculated Useful Life (Doc ID 2797222.1)

Symptoms

Customer receiving critical "media life" tape alert messages on multiple LTO-8 tapes.  However, they felt the tape counts were far to low for this issue.

The following tape alert was seen multiple times, as shown in the SAMreport.  Many times they were for the same volume but reported on multiple drives.
