Option To Use Java To Start SGD Client Is Available On "Client Options" But Results In Error When Legacy Clients not Installed (Doc ID 2808967.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 10, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Secure Global Desktop - Version 5.6 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After installation of SGD 5.6 The Client Options available are:
1 - To use the installed Oracle Secure Global Desktop Client
2 - To use Java to start the Oracle Secure Global Desktop Client

(The HTML5 client modality is not made available until the web-client package is installed on the SGD server.)

The problem is:
  - If the option to Login with Java is selected, it will not work. An error saying "Unable to load resource: https;//<sgd_server_host>/client/legacy/java/sgdwscs.jar" will result.
  - SGD User Guides normally describe only the native SGD client (option 1) and the optional HTML5 client. Not the Java option (see for instance section 1.1.2 of Oracle® Secure Global Desktop User Guide for Release 5.6 or the Quick Guide.
