Last updated on NOVEMBER 15, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) and StorageTek QFS Software - Version 6.1 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Cu reported "We have an issue on a SAMFS system: when we run command "chmod 4000 file" to enable/trigger WORM, we lose standard access permissions".

We could see that after attempting to trigger worm with the "chmod 4000 [directory or filename]" command, that output from the "sls -D [filename]" or "sls -Dd [directory]" commands showed no 'retention period' listed at the bottom of the output and thus worm was not triggered.
