SBC | snmpwalk: Authentication failure (incorrect password, community or key) for SNMPv3 (Doc ID 2832791.1)

Last updated on JUNE 13, 2023

Applies to:

Acme Packet 3900 - Version E-Cz8.3.0 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Customer is trying to setup snmpv3 with authPriv. When they run snmpwalk from the far end SNMP server towards sbc, they get the error "snmpwalk: Authentication failure (incorrect password, community or key)".

Changes

The authPriv level requires that the user connect with the SNMP username, and requires that it has been signed with the Auth password and that it has been encrypted with the Priv password. All these are set in the sbc configuration, under 'snmp-user-entry'. Please ensure that your SBC configuration is correct i.e. setting the snmp-address-entry, snmp-user-entry, snmp-view-entry, snmp-group-entry and snmp-agent-mode under system-config. You can also verify, if the configuration is good and working by testing with the 'noAuthNoPriv' i.e. not setting auth-protocol, auth-password, priv-protocol and priv-password
