Symptoms


HSM 6.1.5 Local file copy (cp -p) fails once MD5 checksum hash is set

Customer getting the following copy error when trying to copy a file locally using the cp -p command, as their application user.
The copy is successful, until the file is written to tape and the MD5 hash gets set on the file.
This is the error that is reported:


The local copy works (no error reported) if they have the original/legacy samfs checksum set for a file (vs. MD5).
The local copy works (no error reported) if they copy a file (with MD5 hash) as root.
