Goal
PCA implements a virtual floating IP address that directs traffic to one of the three management nodes. The assignment of this node is controlled by PCS. A component called "haproxy" is then responsible for distributing workload across the three nodes as well as mapping named endpoints to underlaying kubernetes nodeport services. Essentially one node serves as a load balancer for the three management nodes. If haproxy does not forward request to the nodeport service (like api or sauron) these requests will never show up in the service logs so tracing activity through haproxy is critical to diagnosing failed service requests.
