HSM: Tape Volume Not Recycling Draining Active Copies (Doc ID 2929894.1)

Symptoms

Customer looking to recycler a damaged volume that's been marked as unavailable by setting the 'U' flag using 'chmed'.

Looking in their recycler.log file (location defined in /etc/opt/SUNWsamfs/recyler.cmd) I see the following line, showing the recycler is reporting that it still has 8894 active copies that it needs to rearchive (drain) to another volume:
