HSM: All Tape Drives Are DOWN With ACSLS Communication Issue
(Doc ID 2968630.1)
Last updated on AUGUST 18, 2023
Applies to:
Oracle Hierarchical Storage Manager (HSM) and StorageTek QFS Software - Version 6.0 and laterInformation in this document applies to any platform.
Symptoms
Customer already has configured 2 HSM servers to use their SL4000 tape library over ACSLS. This is working fine.
Now they added one more SAMFS server and it can't see the SL4000.
The 'samcmd s' output shows all drives down:
The command "rpcinfo -p <ACSLS server IP>" issued from the SAMFS server did not complete successfully and reach the ACSLS server. This tells us the SAMFS client does not have visibility to the rpc services on the ACSLS server and so cannot connect to the ACSLS CSI process.
Also the rpTrail of the ACSLS only shows requests from the functioning HSM servers and there is no record of IP address of the failing HSM server in any ACSLS log.
Changes
Adding another HSM server to use SL4000 through ACSLS.
