Microsoft requires the SBC certificate Extended Key Usage (EKU) to contain both clientAuth and serverAuth (Doc ID 3009309.1)

Last updated on MARCH 15, 2024

Applies to:

Acme Packet 6350 - Version S-Cz8.3.0m1 to S-Cz9.2.0 [Release S-Cz8.0 to S-Cz9.2]
Acme Packet OS

Goal

On March 5, 2024 (starting 9 AM UTC), Microsoft will conduct a 24-hour test of its infrastructure. During this time, Session Border Controllers (SBCs) certificates are required to include both Client and Server Authentication for their Extended Key Usage (EKU) extensions. Need to ensure that the EKU extension of SBC certificates include Server Authentication and Client Authentication (clientAuth and serverAuth) to avoid any service degradation.

Please note that the final switch to request both Server and Client authentication for EKU will be performed on March 19, 2024 as per Microsoft.
