Symptoms
The NFS service on Solaris 11 and ZFS Storage Appliance (ZFSSA) Software may go into maintenance mode after a reboot. This is due to a rare race condition due to the kernel not being ready to accept the nodeid. If this happens, the head will fail to provide NFS service. On ZFSSA, the problem may be seen after upgrading the second head or when failback to active-active mode is done.
When this issue occurs, the following message will be reported in the NFS server SMF log (/var/svc/log/network-nfs-server:default.log):
