Goal
Purpose:
Centralized Oracle Advanced Support Portal (OASP) provides password management functionality that enables customers to share passwords securely for targets spread across multiple gateways.
There are 2 different types of Passwords defined in the portal
Monitoring/Non-Privileged Credentials: These are mandatory credentials required for monitoring the Engineered system targets. Example: dbsnmp for Database monitoring and orarom user for compute nodes. These passwords are required for delivering Platinum Service.
Privileged Credentials: These are used to perform particular operations or deliver specific functionality on targets during a specific window. These operations and functions could include installing Autonomous Health Framework (AHF) and Platinum patching, Example: root or ORAROM (with sudo access) is required for AHF installation as well as Platinum Patching.
In other words, these credentials are a temporary requirement; the customer sets or provide these credentials when asked as required.
Below table describes different targets and its associated credentials:
TARGETS | Monitoring/Non Privileged Credentials | Privileged Credentials |
Compute/DB Node | orarom | root / orarom with sudo acces |
Storage / Cell Node | celladmin/cellmonitor | root |
ILOM | root | N/A |
Database Instance | dbsnmp | N/A |
PDUs | root | N/A |
ASM Instance | asmsnmp | N/A |
Cisco Switch | admin | N/A |
Infiband Switch | nm2user | root |
