Java Stored Procedure fails to connect to MS SQL Server 2008 (Doc ID 1477952.1)

Symptoms

A Java Stored Procedure that registers the MS JDBC driver (Class.forName("com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver")) and connects to MS SQL Server 2008 using the following connection url:

(jdbc:sqlserver://<IP>:<port>;databaseName=myMSDB;user=toto;password=123)

fails with: 

"The server version is not supported. The target server must be SQL Server 2000 or later."

Changes

No issue with SQL Server 2000 and 2005.

Problem only happens when attemping to connect to MS SQL 2008
