This document provides the steps for configuring SNMP Trap Notification Method in Enterprise Manager Cloud Control UI so that a SNMPv1 Trap can be sent to a 3rd party SNMP console such as IBM Netcool, HP Openview, IBM Tivoli, BMC Event Manager etc, on the occurrence / update of an Event as defined in the Incident Management Rules.
Note:
1. In 12c/13c EM, SNMP traps are delivered for Event notifications only and not supported for Incidents or Problems.
2. Once the notification method has been created, it is necessary to define an Incident Management Rule which provides the conditions under which this method is invoked by the OMS for sending notifications. Refer to:
<Note 1368036.1> : EM 12c, EM 13c : Steps to Configure Incident Rules to Send Notifications or Manage Events / Incidents / Problems <Note 1553311.1> : EM 12c, EM 13c : How to Configure Incident Rule to Invoke Advanced Notification Methods like OS Command, PL/SQL or SNMP Traps?
3. Until 12.1.0.3 OMS, only SNMP Version 1 trap is supported by the OMS. From 12.1.0.4 version onwards, OMS can send SNMPv3 version traps as well. This document provides the details only for SNMP v1 traps.
This document applies to EM administrators who want to configure EM Cloud Control to send SNMP Trap Notifications to a third party SNMP tool, whenever events are raised for the monitored targets.
