This document is intended to provide a guideline on how to setup the monitoring user for an 11g ASM (clustered or not) and the corresponding Monitoring Configuration in 12c or 13c Enterprise Manager Cloud Control console.

In this Document
 What should be used for monitoring of an ASM or ASM Cluster target?
 Confirm username/password/role information specified in the Monitoring Configuration is correct
 If the 'Test Connection' button fails
 Check that the Correct Password is known for the ASM instance
 Test whether the agent can connect via the listener with the correct password
 1) Set correct ORACLE_HOME and path
 2) Run the following Connect Tests
 a) Connection test for a Single Instance ASM
 b) Connection test for a Cluster ASM
 3) What to check if the connection test fails
 If the connection fails with ORA errors or TNS errors
 If the connection fails with ORA-1017
 If the connection test fails with the ORA-1031 
 If the Connection Test Succeeds, but the status of the ASM target is shown incorrectly in Enterprise Manager
