EM 12c: How to Transition from an Existing Log File Monitoring Metric to the New Log File Monitor Metric in Enterprise Manager 12.1.0.4 Cloud Control (Doc ID 1606362.1)

Last updated on APRIL 19, 2024

Applies to:

Enterprise Manager Base Platform - Version 12.1.0.4.0 to 13.2.0.0.0 [Release 12.1 to 13c]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Goal

The Log File Monitor metric, newly introduced in Enterprise Manager (EM) 12.1.0.4 Cloud Control, allows the administrator to monitor one or more log files for occurrence of one or more string patterns in the content of a file. This metric replaces the Log File Monitoring metric, applicable to EM versions 12.1.0.3 and earlier.

The new metric is implemented to address the issues of generating multiple keys for the same pattern match in Log File Monitoring metric for a host target type in Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control versions 12.1.0.3 and earlier.
In the EM 12.1.04 release, by default the obsolete Log File Monitoring metric is disabled. Users are advised to migrate the existing Log File Monitoring configuration to the new Log File Monitor metric using the steps defined below.

This procedure may apply to a version 12.1.0.4 environment upgraded from previous versions or a Log File Monitoring configuration inadvertently entered into the new 12.1.0.4 environment.
