Trying To Associate An OC4J Container With OID Using ASControl Page Returns A "There was an error processing one or more values entered on this page" Error (Doc ID 1612236.1)

Symptoms

Linux x86-64 Red Hat Enterprise 5
Oracle Fusion Middleware 10.1.3.4.0
Oracle Internet Directory 10g version 10.1.2.X

Oracle SOA 10.1.3.4 was installed as part of a migration plan to new hardware.
Now, when trying to associate an OC4J container with OID using EM ASControl 10g, the following error is returned:

(x) Error
  There was an error processing one or more values entered on this page.
  1. Connect Information - An error occurred trying to connect to the Internet Directory using the information specified below.
  Please verify that the host/port and username/password specified are correct and that the OID instance is indeed up and running.
